Venice

Venice, Italy

 St Marks Basilica's famous horses.

St Marks Basilica

The Grand Canal is called the
most beautiful street in the world.

It's not hard to see why!

I must agree!

There are smaller canals all over the city.
Makes walking around exciting...lots of backtracking.

A Gondolier.
The knowledge of the city's waterways
are passed down from Father to Son.

Gondolas are everywhere.

Every street could tell a story!

 Street-side cafe...they are everywhere!
Now THAT's Italian!

We stayed at the Hotel Marconi
near the Rialto Bridge.

The famous Rialto Bridge

The open farmers market was awesome.

Everything in Venice is carefully displayed!

Everywhere you look in this amazing
city you see beauty.

This is a must see City!

  2. WOW!! Loved the pictures--a book series that I have read is centered in Venice and is really interesting. Lots of flowers on ledges and in windows, huh, and I bet the food is good. How fun for you!!!!! Thanks for the update--Love you!!

  3. P.S. I can see that the Grand Canal is pretty wide--I had a hard time envisioning the police boats flying up and down that canal as my head was picturing it smaller--I'm glad to see pictures!! The books are by Donna Leon and feature a man called Inspector Guido Brunetti. Pretty much everybody in the series lives in apartment buildings--and it looks like there are lots of them in the pictures--good job, Di!!!!!
