Croatia

We spent last week in Croatia, on Pag Island in the
Adriatic Sea.  There is a resort here named
Camp Simuni.  Bryan is installing a waterplay
feature for the camp.

This is the cabin where we stayed.  It had 2 bedrooms,
2 baths and a kitchen/dining/living area.  It had air
conditioning and a great freezer, so I was thrilled.
During the week we were adopted by a tabby cat.

The weather was very mild, in the mid 70's.
It gets real hot in the summer, so this was a perfect
 time to be there.

The water was so clear and the bluest I have ever seen.
The whole island is very rocky, so the beach was quite
rough, there are however some places of course sand.

The shoreline has been developed beautifully using
the natural stone in all the construction and landscaping.

Our house was the second up from the beach.

I spent a lot of time on the beach just breathing in the
wonderful sea air.

We met a guy that wants to work with PurePlay as a
themer.  He built this ship around a cafe/bar.
It was amazing!

Here is a replica of an authentic Croatian village.  We
had some freshly baked bread from a stone oven.
Yum!

The houses and streets are amazing!
We can't seem to take enough photos.

Behind Bryan is an island where they put wild donkeys
to protect them.  The statue is to celebrate the donkeys.
Each year they have "Running with the Donkeys".

Our next vacation will be on a sailboat.  Guess we
better learn how to sail!

Sheep on Pag Island.  They must like eating rocks.
Cheese is what they are known for...not bad tasting.

They use the stone for everything.  Here you can see
how they use them to make fences.  There are miles
of fences on the island.

  1. This is so interesting, Di. The pictures are beautiful and the water is amazing. Wow, talk about millions of rocks. I suppose they mostly raise sheep there--doesn't look like much farming could go on. I'm glad you are getting a chance to sit by the water and just enjoy the magnificence of it and the air--I've always thought of it as a "healing" thing--just sitting and listening to the peaceful sound of the water is heavenly. Love you so much, Mom
